Community groups considering applying for the next round of Baw Baw Shire's community grants are encouraged to take advantage of the "applications by appointment" process currently underway.
Applications by Appointment provide community groups an opportunity to meet with council representatives to discuss their project idea to ensure it aligns with the grant guidelines.
The process also provides potential applicants with guidance on what to include in their application and clarity about the supporting documents which must be submitted, reducing the likelihood of applications being incomplete or ineligible for assessment.
Council's community grants program supports non-profit groups and organisations to undertake activities or make purchases that benefit the local community.
Grants allocated through the community projects funding stream support delivery of community events, projects, programs, environmental initiatives and equipment purchases. Grants of up to $5000 are available.
Council recently awarded more than $154,000 in community grants to 41 local community groups and non-profit organisations to fund new projects, programs and events.
Mayor Danny Goss encouraged local community groups to consider applying for a grant.
"We are proud to be working with community groups to deliver projects, programs and events that help make our community a happy, healthy, sustainable and thriving one," he said.
Cr Suzanne Allen said examples of how the funding had been used previously included the purchasing of defibrillators, covering costs of running community events, running community training and the replacement of sporting equipment.
