Local job seekers are encouraged to attend the Early Childhood Careers Expo next Tuesday to learn more about training and employment opportunities in the early years sector.
Following success of the inaugural expo last year, this year's event will provide valuable information and contacts for job seekers of all ages and experience levels.
The expo will feature a range sector employers and training providers showcasing current and future opportunities. Attendees also will hear from industry professional guest speakers and have access to useful skills workshops on the day.
Attendees can explore qualification requirements for different career pathways into early years fields, learn about career opportunities from industry experts and explore current job opportunities in the local area and beyond.
More than 20 stallholders have confirmed their attendance at the expo, which will be held in the foyer and Lyrebird Room of the West Gippsland Arts Centre between 9.30am and noon next Tuesday (May 27). Entry is free.
Mayor Danny Goss said the expo was a must-do for anyone interested in a rewarding and in-demand career in the early years sector.
"Baw Baw Shire's population continues to grow with more and more young families choosing to move here to raise their children. To service this growth, there is huge demand for more qualified professionals such as Maternal Child and Health Nurses, Long Day Care providers, Family Day Care providers and Kindergarten educators among others.
"Council is committed to supporting our growing early years sector and know this expo will go a long way in connecting people to accredited training opportunities and potential employment where it's needed most," he said.
