A new community garden is taking root in Drouin, with exciting progress underway to transform the space into a vibrant, welcoming hub for locals of all ages and backgrounds.
The garden aims to offer locals a chance to grow their own produce, share knowledge, and build stronger community ties.
Plans include raised garden beds, seating areas, and workshops designed to engage people of all skill levels—from green thumbs to beginners.
The area is limited but organisers are hoping to showcase what can be done in small spaces.
Thanks to generous funding from the Family Hotel Drouin, support from Baw Baw Shire and mulch from Drouin Tree Services, the project is well on its way to becoming a thriving centre for connection, sustainability, and learning.
"Their backing has given us the boost we needed to get the project off the ground," Claire McArthur said.
The garden is currently under development, with volunteers and community members already lending a hand.
Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether by helping plant, donating materials, or stopping by to say hello.
