Drouin Speedway is back!
The season will kick off this Saturday from 1pm with the Drouin Wingless Classic. Part of the Eastern Wingless Sprint series, there will be a cool $2000 up for grabs for the first passed the line.
Fans will also see all their favourite local Gippsland and south eastern suburbs based sedan heroes in standard saloons for the open, women's and junior classes, plus the sports sedans in the Gippsland Cup annual feature.
The Wingless Sprint competitors includes the likes of Wayne Logue from Morwell, Thomas McDonald from Koo Wee Rup, Ricky Mills from Traralgon, Nathan Orton from Nar Nar Goon, Scott Irons from Bunyip, Victorian champion Brad Warren from Longwarry, and Dillon Siley and Marcus Fraser from Bairnsdale.
Born and raised in the area and making the trip from Heathcote, Jade Moule will also hit the dirt to keep the others on their toes.
Brad Warren will be busy on race day, having nominated in three race cars out of the five classes. Sports sedans is one of his favourites to compete in and he will battle with Brendan Miller, competing in Jack Brennan's race car.
Miller is consistently amongst the best in Victoria in the class at major events.
Shannon Burke will attend in an immaculately built and presented XF Falcon, whilst Brendan Sheedy has invested in a sports sedan. Sheedy and Warren will represent the Drouin Club. Drivers will be keen to pick up the cash available for winning the Gippsland Cup.
The open standard saloon competition will feature a number of Drouin members in the line-up including Mark Miles, Dyclan Sweet, Ella Sheedy, Jack Yeomans, Matt Leek, Anthony Murray, Ben Poliansky and Brad Warren. Yeomans has a feature winner already this season at Bairnsdale and is the one to watch in a terrific field.
Ella Sheedy proved herself as the number one women's competitor at Drouin and is more than capable of competing in the open line up should she choose.
Sheedy and Tasharni Murray will be up against Michelle George and Maddi Miles in the women's standard saloons.
In the junior standard saloons, Cooper Irons is keen to get the win over Nathan Miles, Hunter Carey, William Hickey and Nickolas Pritchett.
Miles is very difficult to defeat at the moment. With his friend and teammate Hunter Carey also on track, Cooper will have to be at his very best to reach the first step of the podium on Saturday.
The gates at 140 Main Jindivick Road, Jindivick, will open this Saturday from 10am. Racing will start from 1pm.
Entry costs are $25 for adults, $15 for children 12 to 16 years and children under 12 years are free. A family ticket for two adults and two children aged 12 to 16 is $60.
