Big wins for top teams

It wasn't a week for close results in the Gippsland League this week as several teams enjoyed the chance to flex their muscles.
Here's what you might have missed this week.
Wonthaggi vs Moe
Moe again showed they're the team to beat on Saturday as they romped to a 67-point win over fellow contender Wonthaggi.
Anti-climax would be a fair descriptor for a match that many punters hoped would be a finals-like cracker.
Instead, the Lions had things settled before quarter time, having kicked the first seven goals of the day, eventually coming out winners 15.13 (103) to 4.12 (36).
Ben Crocker (seven goals) again victimised an opposition defender, despite leaving a few simple shots out on the park.
Hopefully the Moe doctors were prepared to treat Nathan Scagliarini's leather poisoning post-game after another outstanding performance from the Lions ball magnet. Scagliarini had more than 30 disposals by half time, if that tells you anything.
Harrison Sim, Alex Dijkstra, Trent Baldi and Nick Prowse were all excellent for the visitors.
The Power have plenty to work on, having been blown out in consecutive games against Leongatha and now Moe. The size of those margins is the especially concerning part, especially if they still have hopes of lifting the cup come September.
Their better players included Ryan Sparkes, Noah Anderson, Isaac Chugg, Reeve Moresco, Jai Williams and Brodie Mabila.
Morwell vs Bairnsdale
If you wanted an example of a so-called 'eight-point game' this was it.
Morwell have tightened their grip on fifth spot after seeing off Bairnsdale in a fairly comprehensive fashion.
With the winner guaranteed to finish the round in the top five it was the Tigers who pounced on the opportunity, kicking seven goals to two in the opening quarter to stamp their authority early and never relinquish it.
The 16.13 (109) to 10.8 (68) win snaps the Tigers' two-game losing streak and is their biggest since round two.
The Redlegs were generally improved in the second half, outscoring the home side 6.4 to 3.8 to restore some respectability on the scoreboard, but were never realistically in the contest.
Pleasingly for Morwell they were able to share the load up forward as 10 different players helped themselves to at least one goal.
The Tigers' upcoming fixtures against Drouin and Warragul could go a long way to taking a stranglehold on a finals position.
Isaac Abas, Aidan Quigley, Harrison McColl, Boyd Bailey, Blake Couling and Zachary Anderson led the way during the Tigers' early onslaught.
Trying to turn the tide for Bairnsdale were Will Mitchell, Tyran Rees, Tate Clay, Matthew Hamilton, Lachlan Byrne-Jones and Jamie Dore.
Traralgon vs Sale
Traralgon put an emphatic end to Sale's mini-resurgence with a crushing 90-point victory.
It was an emphatic display from the reigning premiers, who rained down goals after half time to come out on top 19.21 (135) to 7.3 (45).
Jackson McMahon was the standout for the Maroons, booting six goals in an excellent display.
To their credit, Sale were able to keep things respectable in the first half before finding themselves outpaced, outgunned and outmatched past half time, where they kicked just two goals to the home side's 11.
It's a disappointing result for the Magpies after two sterling wins gave them some hope for a mid-season resurrection.
For Traralgon they now move back into the top three after Wonthaggi's heavy defeat.
Outside of McMahon their best were Harvey Neocleous, Jordan Cunico, Tristen Waack, Tye Hourigan and Matthew Northe.
Cooper Whitehill, Thomas Glenn, Will Leslie, Cooper Rand, Samuel Treglown and Jordan Dessent offered some resistance for Sale.
Maffra vs Leongatha
Leongatha proved far too good for Maffra as they showed the young Eagles how far they have to go in their rebuild.
The Eagles have been more than competitive for most of this year and last but it was a different story against the prowess and experience of the Parrots, who kicked the first seven goals of the day and never looked back.
Leongatha's 21.10 (136) to 6.6 (42) percentage booster now has them nipping at the heels of ladder leaders Moe as they chase yet another flag.
Maffra had some periods of solid footy, namely a good second quarter effort, though Leongatha were able to blow the result out significantly as the game wore on.
Patrick Ireland booted five goals on return from his VFL debut for Casey, where he kicked a goal against Collingwood.
Luke Bowman, Kim Drew, Aaron Heppell, Jacob Warne, Benjamin Harding and Nicholas Argento were the Parrots' premier contributors.
Jett Killoran, Sam Anderson, Jonathan Boyd, Danny Butcher, Thomas Scott and Thomas Phillips never stopped trying for the Eagles.
