Warragul and West Gippsland Agricultural Society president Maurita Harris and Lisandra Purton are appealing for more volunteers to help stage the 2026 Warragul Show.
Warragul Show needs more volunteers.
Following a successful annual general meeting in May which saw the election of key office bearers, the show committee needs more people power to ensure the annual event can be staged next year.
The Warragul Show celebrated its 140th anniversary in March this year and organisers are keen for the tradition to continue.
President Maurita Harris said some volunteers had left the committee due to other commitments. "We definitely need more help."
Maurita said the show was run every year entirely by volunteers to showcase the talent, dedication and passion of the local community whether it be baking, gardening, craft, music, photography or animal husbandry.
She said it also was a great opportunity for younger exhibitors to show off their art projects in the schools' sections.
The Warragul and West Gippsland Agricultural Society will host a volunteers information evening on October 20 for people interested in supporting the show.
Maurita said it was all about attracting more people to help with the show.
"We all have work and family commitments but we believe this is something worth being a part of.
"We are trying to evolve to become more sustainable but at the same time we need to keep the history that's there. We know some people can only give a small commitment, others may give more but there's something for everyone," she said.
Show secretary Lisandra Purton said a co-ordinator for the exhibition hall classes was desperately needed.
"We won't be able to have that (exhibition classes) at the show if we don't have someone co-ordinate it. We have plenty of volunteers to help in that area but we need a co-ordinator.
The information meeting, to be held in the Poultry Clubrooms in Galloway St, will run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
It is an opportunity for interested people to learn what the committee does, explore volunteer opportunities, meet current volunteers and ask questions.
