The historic Walhalla Goldfields Railway locomotive is back on track.
The popular tourist railway was operating again last Wednesday after tours were suspended five weeks earlier when a volunteer fell trying to climb back into the driver's cabin after inspecting a section of the track.
President of the tourist railway Greg Hansford said as well as working overtime to to meet all requirements that had been imposed by the National Rail Safety Regulator, volunteers had also given the locomotive a full service.
Mr Hansford described Wednesday's return to the track as "fantastic" with a good crowd of visitors enjoying the trip and the sunshine.
The suspension of the service didn't come without a significant cost.
The five-week period also took in the school holiday period with Mr Hansford estimating the railway had lost about $30,000 in ticket sales.
The train is now back to its regular schedule as it enters the usually busy season.
Trains run twice on Wednesdays and three times each on Saturday and Sunday.
