Voting closes on Friday

Voters have until Friday to complete and send off their postal vote for the Baw Baw Shire and Cardinia Council elections.
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) reminded community members that voting in the local council elections was mandatory and closes on Friday at 6pm.
"You need to post your completed ballot pack before 6pm on Friday, October 25, noting local clearance times may vary," electoral commissioner Sven Bluemmel said.
Alternatively, voters can drop off their pack to the election office at the Warragul Exhibition Hall in Howitt St by the deadline. Opening hours will be extended to allow with voters able to drop by on Thursday from 9am to 8pm and Friday from 9am to 6pm.
Any voters yet to receive a ballot pack is urged to visit vec.vic.gov.au to complete an online replacement pack form.
Voting is compulsory. Enrolled voters who fail to vote may be fined.
Baw Baw Shire Council is split into three wards - Central, East and West - with three councillors to be elected for each. In total, 23 people nominated for a place in the council chamber.
For those in Bunyip and Garfield region, they will vote in the Cardinia Shire Council election. Two people have nominated for Bunyip Ward. Voting deadlines are the same.
After Friday's deadline, there may be a wait of up to three weeks for results to be declared.
The VEC anticipates announcing our new councillors sometime between Monday, November 4 to Friday, November 15.
