Grassroots football and netball clubs can apply for up to $10,000 from the Transport Accident Commission's Club Rewards Program to improve facilities and equipment.
Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath said it was also important for clubs to underscore crucial road safety messages and have road safety conversations with players, officials and volunteers.
She said with more than half of Victoria's road deaths this year occurring in country areas it was vital footballers and netballers that travel long distances for games and training to understand the dangers, especially from speeding.
Ms Bath said the road safety tagline - Show up for your team, Slow done on the road - was pertinent given new data shows 91 per cent of roads are in poor or very poor condition and country roads were a particular risk with many having pot holes, crumbling edges, surface deterioration and unkept roadsides.
The grants through the TAC Club Rewards program can be used the upgrade facilities, acquire new equipment and uniforms and for club transport.
