Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing has secured a seat in the government's new cabinet.
Premier Jacinta Allen announced her new cabinet yesterday following a reshuffle of some portfolios.
Ms Shing, who formerly was Minister for Regional development will take up the housing portfolio.
As Minister for Housing, she will oversee the government's Big Housing Build and the urban renewal project across Melbourne's high-rise public housing estates – delivering 10 per cent more social homes as a result.
Ms Shing also will retain the water and equality portfolios.
