Rate notices with new tax on their way

Council rates notices - featuring the controversial new emergency services levy - were sent out to Baw Baw ratepayers last week.
Council will collect the levy on behalf of the State Government, with Baw Baw Shire mayor Danny Goss previously warning that ratepayers should expect "rate bills will be through the roof" with its introduction.
And, as Baw Baw Shire councillors united in opposition, Cr Kate Wilson emphasised "we have no assurance one cent will come back to our community or services".
