The Victorian State Emergency Service (VICSES) Warragul Unit is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a community open day on Saturday, October 18.
The milestone event will honour five decades of dedicated volunteer service and showcase the vital work VICSES does in emergency response, community safety and recovery.
Highlights of the open day include live storm and flood demonstrations, historical displays, kids' activities and a special meet and great with VICSES mascot Paddy the Platypus.
The open day is free to attend, and no bookings are required.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, the unit also will be awarding life memberships to a cohort of current and former members at a special dinner event at the Warragul Country Club.
Current and former members of the unit also are invited to be part of a special picnic event in Warragul this Sunday, October 5 from 11am. Registrations are essential for catering purposes and can be made via email to SES50picnicwarragul@gmail.com
