New toilet block opens

A new toilet block is now open in Queen St Park, Warragul.
The new toilet block, part of the ninth and final stage of the Warragul central business district streetscape project, has replaced an old toilet block in the park adjoining Warragul Railway Station. The old block will soon be demolished.
Baw Baw Shire community infrastructure director Ben Wood said the new toilet facility was now operational in Queen St Park.
"The new facility is located closer to the footpath, improving accessibility and safety," Mr Wood said. "Council is currently in the process of removing the old toilet block."
The overall Warragul CBD streetscape project, staged from 2016 to 2025, was designed to help the town cope with a growing population and the increased traffic.
The ninth and final stage was split into two phases. It included reestablishment of trees along the south side of Queen St, new line-marking, widening footpaths from TAFE to Normanby Place, kerbing and refuge islands at the Queen St and Gladstone St intersection and renewal of Queen St Park public toilets.
The civil and landscaping works were valued at $456,000 and the toilet block construction at $252,700.
Original plans to install a centre median between Smith St and Mason St as well as exploration of a mid-block pedestrian crossing were placed on hold.
After being significantly damaged by vandals, a public toilet block in Rawson has also reopened.
Mr Wood said council's repair bill was about $4400, with the facility out of operation for just over a week.
Police identified two children as responsible for the vandalism to the public toilets at the Allan Croxford Reserve on Saturday, May 24.
