A local politician is demanding confirmation the State Government has backflipped on plans to form the Great Forest National Park.
Member for Eastern Victoria and Shadow Minister for Public Land Management Melina Bath said the government owed an explanation to the 40,208 Victorians who signed a petition opposing plans to form new national parks.
The petition - No New National Parks - was the highest number of signatures ever on a petition submitted to state parliament, she said.
It followed a rally attracting more than 1000 people at Drouin in May last year.
