Museum visitors welcomed
1 min read

Warragul and District Historical Society recently hosted 18 members of the Glen Eira U3A, who travelled to Warragul by train.
They were welcomed by president Wayne Hardie, vice president Di Harrison, treasurer Helen Wallace, along with local historian and committee member Colin Silcock.
The visitors were given a guided tour through the Old Shire Hall, its fascinating historical displays and the society's extensive collection.
On behalf of the visiting group Margaret Summers said it was a wonderful opportunity to understand some of Warragul's history.
She said the group greatly enjoyed their visit, and, in particularly, the wealth of knowledge the society members shared.
Following the visit to the Old Shire Hall, the group enjoyed the society's heritage walk around the town, before gathering for lunch at a local hotel, after which they returned to Melbourne.
"We would welcome visits by any group to view the society's collection at the Old Shire Hall, and to gain an appreciation of the extent of its resources," Mr Hardie said.
"It is important for the community to appreciate what a valuable contribution the Historical Society does make to understanding Warragul's, and the district's, history. For the area to develop, grow sensibly, and to prosper, it is necessary for the community, and for those who make the decisions effecting the town, to understand what has led it to what it is today."
