West Gippsland Healthcare Group's health promotion team hosted celebrations at Drouin and Warragul primary schools earlier this month to mark National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day.
Indigenous performer Mem Tjampitjinpa performed with his Didgeridoo, engaging with students through indigenous storytelling and music.
The theme for this year's National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day was Little Voices, Loud Futures. More than 150 students and local families were involved in the interactive performances.
During that week, West Gippsland Healthcare Group also teamed up with Myli – My Community Library to run an Aboriginal Children's Day preschool story time sessions at Drouin Library. Children enjoyed stories, songs and craft activities about connection to country and dreamtime.
