Community members applauded Baw Baw Shire councillors when they opted to trial a hybrid approach to road repair in Aberfeldy.
Answering pleas from residents in the far north of the shire, the unanimous decision went against an officer recommendation to convert High St back to a gravel road.
Cr Brendan Kingwill put forward an alternative solution to repair and reseal sections of the 190m road at an estimated cost of $43,000, stating "returning the road back to slippery and dusty dirt isn't progress."
