Expect to see extra police vehicles on local roads this long weekend as part of the statewide road policing operation, "Operation Scoreboard."
The operation will target speed, drug and alcohol impaired drivers, fatigue and distraction, beginning at midnight on Thursday and concluding at midnight on Sunday.
Senior sergeant Glenn Parke said police were asking people to be particularly careful on the roads over the long weekend.
"If you're unsure, you're probably not right to drive," he said.
Sen sgt Parke urged road users to drive to conditions, ensure they had plenty of rest, and not to take risks with drugs and alcohol before driving.
