Interim CEO extended

Baw Baw Shire has extended John Bennie's appointment as interim chief executive officer to the end of the year as the search for the next leader continues.
Mayor Danny Goss said the decision to extend his appointment was made in July.
Mr Bennie was initially appointed from March 31 to September 26 or until a new CEO was appointed, but no later than January 30, 2026.
"Council has been happy with the level of interest in the position so far and acknowledges that appointing the right CEO to lead the organisation through a period of significant growth, both for the organisation and our community is a decision of great importance," Cr Goss said. "The community will be advised as soon as practicable of any appointment."
The update was provided as council confirmed the resignation of community infrastructure director Ben Wood.
Mr Wood, who had been in the role just over two years, left the organisation last month.
Mr Bennie said James Robinson had been appointed in an acting role and a recruitment process was underway for an extended interim community infrastructure director.
He said an interim arrangement would "provide the incoming CEO with the time and flexibility needed to evaluate the role and appoint a long-term director who aligns with their vision, leadership style and team-building priorities."
