Even though he is just shy of his 90th birthday, Bernard Rabl is not slowing down as he approaches 40 years as a volunteer for the Warragul Lions Club.
Rain, hail or shine, Bernard can be found operating the wood splitter at the Lions' firewood depot in Warragul as a key member of a group of volunteers who offer three hours of their time each Monday morning.
As part of their fundraising efforts, Warragul Lions receive donated firewood from farmers and community members that they cut and sell to raise funds for the service club's many causes.
Bernard joined Warragul Lions on January 22, 1986. He has been a constant for the club ever since and recipient of a number of prestigious awards including the Ian Stockdale award, the James D. Richardson award and is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
