Mayor needs to be re-elected

Following completion of his 21-day suspension, Baw Baw Shire councillor Danny Goss will need to be re-elected if he is to retain the mayoral position.
Baw Baw Shire has advertised an additional council meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at 4.30pm "to elect a mayor for the remainder of the 2024/25 mayoral term."
Council confirmed this was a process that must take place under the Local Government Act 2020 and did not mean anyone was stepping down.
The additional meeting, held in the Fountain Room, will be open to the public from 4.15pm.
The ordinary council meeting will follow at 5.30pm as previously scheduled.
