Budget delivers lighting upgrade at Buln Buln

User groups of Buln Buln Recreation Reserve have welcomed a $250,000 investment into upgraded lighting as part of the State Government's budget announcement last week.
The project will see installation of new 100 lux LED lighting with four 25m poles and upgrading cabling and supporting infrastructure.
It also will include comprehensive lux testing and compliance certification to ensure proper illumination standards at the ground.
The Buln Buln Football Netball Club, junior football club and Buln Buln Cricket Club are among the groups set to benefit from the upgrades.
Upgrades to the oval's lighting system have been in the works for some time, with Buln Buln Football Netball Club president Daryl Pollard saying they had been on the reserve's master plan for almost a decade.
"It'll make a massive difference to us. The juniors can host night games and even just at senior training it'll be nice to kick a footy and not worry about getting hit in the head by one," he said.
The application for funding was through the Country Football Netball Program and is the second time attempt after an unsuccessful application last year.
Mr Pollard said the reserve's current lighting was well past its use by date, having been installed 30 years ago.
He added the new lighting would not only be brighter, but would be significantly cheaper to use, making it beneficial for all user groups.
Mr Pollard said the next goal for the reserve would be upgrades to the surface itself.
