West Gippsland has been let down again by the State Government with no money included for the new West Gippsland Hospital in last week's state budget.
As community doubts continue to increase about whether the state will deliver on its 2022 election promise, Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing guaranteed it "remains my number one priority for West Gippsland" and would be delivered.
To date, money has been only provided in the 2023/24 budget to undertake planning work for the project and no timeframes have been set - other than the initial announcement by the then Premier Dan Andrews in 2022 that a new hospital would be delivered on the Drouin East site by 2029.
A government spokesperson said last week the planning work was continuing.<
