Upgrades included in budget

The former drill hall in Warragul, Lardner Equestrian Centre and West Gippsland Arts Centre are set to benefit from multiple upgrade projects in the Baw Baw Shire's 2025/26 draft budget.
Proposed initiatives are spread across the shire, from playgrounds in Trafalgar and Rawson, installation of a septic system in Seaview and reset of a bio-retention basin in Willow Grove.
A list of specific projects across eight categories within the draft capital works program was unavailable when the draft budget was released. However, council provided a comprehensive list on Thursday.
The $1 million community facilities renewal program features 10 projects, including demolition of Warragul Exhibition Hall.
Lardner Equestrian Centre will see two projects - concrete verandah flooring and external painting funded.
Other projects include re-stumping and improved accessibility at the former drill hall in Warragul; repainting the Trafalgar Community Centre; changeroom drainage improvements at Buln Buln pavilion; projector and screen renewal at West Gippsland Arts Centre; external painting of the Burke St pavilion in Warragul; and, fence renewal at Drouin Croquet Club.
Renewal and upgrading of fire service equipment across the shire also featured.
The former drill hall is set to benefit from a $150,000 recladding and repainting project.
The $300,000 playground renewal fund will benefit three projects at Trafalgar Recreation Reserve, Lois Court Reserve in Trafalgar and Allan Croxford Reserve at Rawson, whilst the $70,000 flooring renewal fund will benefit two projects at West Gippsland Arts Centre and Trafalgar Community Centre.
Public toilets in Trafalgar and Seaview will benefit from the $90,000 toilet and amenities renewal program. This includes re-epoxy of flooring at Contingent St and installation of a septic system at Seaview Hall.
Stormwater works will be undertaken at various locations across Baw Baw, including a $120,000 complete reset of a bio-retention basin at Glenbrook Plce in Willow Grove.
Pipe relining works, valued at $200,000, will take place at Main Neerim Rd in Neerim South, Kitchener and Contingent streets in Trafalgar and Sutton and Davey streets in Warragul.
An allocation of $100,000 for pit renewal projects will benefit Ford Pl in Longwarry; Viaduct Pl, McNeilly Rd and Gerrard St in Drouin; Settlement Rd and Contingent St in Trafalgar; Waterford Rise wetland reserve in Warragul; and, Waterloo Rd and Glen Rd in Yarragon.
