Free clinic at Geoff Watt fun run

Ever wanted to meet an Olympian? How about learn how to be like them? Local kids will soon get that chance at the Geoff Watt Memorial Fun Run later this month.
Sunday October 27 will see athletes of all ages and abilities taking on a variety of distances from a 400 metre sprint to a half marathon.
But the really big hook of this year's event will be the introduction of a free Little Athletics Australia coaching clinic where kids can learn from some of Australia's top level athletes.
Those in attendance will get a chance to learn from the likes of high jumper Yual Reath, who competed at the Paris Olympics earlier this year after claiming the national title.
Also imparting their wisdom will be two-time Commonwealth Games hammer throw gold medalist and former Olympics coach Gus Puopolo as well as World Athletics Championship sprinter Nana Owusu-Afriyie.
Event organiser and former Olympic cyclist Kathy Watt said getting as many kids involved as possible was going to be a big focus of this year's event.
"My dad started the Warragul Little Athletics club with Ian Worth back in the day so now I'm trying to encourage more kids to get into Little Athletics," she elaborated.
One of the various activities on offer at the fun run is a raffle, with all money set to go towards young Gippsland athletes.
"We want to give them the opportunity to succeed they might not otherwise have."
Ballarat's Yual Reath, who recently returned from his maiden Olympic games in Paris, said he was excited to be involved.
"I've met Kathy a few times and she said she's a huge fan so I'm just happy to come down," he said.
Originally from South Sudan, it will be the first time Yual has ever ventured to this side of Melbourne.
"It'll be pretty cool. I'm passionate about competing but I also love helping the next generation too.
"I'm looking forward to coming down and saying hi. I know bits and pieces about technique from my coach telling me all the time so hopefully I can teach the kids something."
