A third party mail sorting contractor provides cost savings to council, according to Baw Baw Shire.
Responding to a ratepayer's questioning of council's mail redirection to a third party, shire governance and information services director Martin Hopley said council had streamlined its mail sorting process.
"This is not a new initiative for council and was put in place a number of years ago."Council has streamlined the way incoming mail is managed to ensure mail is being collected daily and opened, sorted, and redirected within a short timeframe.
"This removes single point sensitivity should there be unplanned leave within the business information team while providing cost savings to council," Mr Hopley said.
