It was a big welcome home for the Hawks on Saturday as Drouin Football and Netball Clubs made their long awaited return to the newly reopened Drouin Recreation Reserve.
Local councillors and government officials were on hand to unveil the resurfaced oval before the Drouin senior football side's Western Derby match against traditional rivals Warragul in the final round of the Gippsland League.
The $3.3 million redevelopment project has forced Drouin's footballers and netballers to hit the road this season, playing 'home' fixtures at a multitude of venues including Trafalgar, Morwell and Traralgon.
