A heavily used laneway in Drouin's commercial area - Hamp Lane - reopened last week after major repairs.
The lane which is one of two accesses to the Coles supermarket and a number of other businesses had been closed since January due to severe washouts after heavy rain.
It also meant 17 car parking spaces were unavailable.
Baw Baw Shire last week completed restoration work of what it damage cause by "excessive water flow outside of the drainage system".
In one spot a hole more than a metre wide and half a metre deep was gouged in the middle of the roadway that is used by many drivers to avoid often heavily congested Princes Way.
Shire community infrastructure director Ben Wood said the repairs required were more complex than initially thought with the scope of the work widened to include stormwater drainage.
