Focus on clean energy at Yarragon program

Clean energy solutions for homes and businesses will be the focus of a free event to be conducted at Yarragon on Thursday, May 1.

The Baw Baw Sustainability Network (BBSN) is organising "Getting Off Gas; Exploring our renewable energy future."
President Inge Mitchell said the event aimed to support homeowners, renters and local businesses to cut energy bills, lower emissions and prepare for a gas-free future.
It's the perfect time for local to learn how they can benefit, she said.
Speakers Darren McCubbin from the Gippsland Climate Chane Network and BBSN's Malcolm McKelvie will give their insights on energy efficiency, home retrofitting and reducing energy costs.
Highlights will include an oversight of Gippsland's onshore and offshore renewables projects, jobs and training pathways in the transition to clean energy, guidance on electrifying homes with solar, batteries and efficient hot water systems, and advice on government rebates and finding trustworthy local suppliers.
Those attending can also experience Gippsland Climate Change Network's Power Pops Program, a virtual reality displaying aimed at engaging young people in Gippsland's clean energy future.
The event will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Yarragon from 6.30pm to 9pm.
People can register to attend at bbsn.org.au/events
