Police slammed the stupidity of those responsible for a tree fire in Warragul on Sunday morning.
The fire, believed to be deliberately lit, caused minor damage to the tree and nature strip grass.
It was reported near the intersection of Centre Ave and Pioneer St at about 3.55am.
It appeared assorted plastic items from nearby hard rubbish were placed in the tree and set on fire, police said.
The CFA attended to extinguish the fire. It caused no damage or impact to nearby buildings.
