Farnham gains hospital briefing commitment

A local politician is expecting a briefing on the new West Gippsland Hospital project.
However, Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham said the commitment for a briefing had raised fresh concerns, specifically around planning needed at the existing hospital site.
A new 223-bed facility was promised ahead of the 2022 state election with a pledge to begin construction in 2024.
However, with no works announced, Mr Farnham took to the floor in State Parliament for the fourth time on Wednesday to demand a firm start date.
This time, acting on Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas' advice, he took up the matter with Minister for Health Infrastructure Melissa Horne who failed to provide a timeline but did provide a project status.
