Delays as superload moves through Gippsland on Saturday

Delays may be experienced on the Princes Fwy and other roads on Saturday night as a superload travels from Loy Yang Power Station to Melbourne.
The load measures 125 metres from end-to-end, weighs in at over 620 tonnes and is transporting a large electrical generator component.
On the first leg of its journey, the superload will depart Loy Yang Power Station on the outskirts of Traralgon at around 6pm Saturday, April 1.
It will travel through Churchill and Hazelwood to enter the Princes Fwy from Marretts Road, Yallourn and then continue towards the park-up location on the South Gippsland Freeway, Eumemmering.
The load will travel at a maximum speed of just 25km/h and, due to its eight-metre width, will be difficult to pass at times. Opportunities to pass will be provided where possible.
Roads that will be impacted include the Hyland Highway, Mattingley Hill Road, Hazlewood Road, Firmins Lane, Monash Way, Brodribb Road, Yinnar Road, Yinnar-Driffield Road, the Strzelecki Highway, Marretts Road, the Princes Freeway, the Monash Freeway and the South Gippsland Freeway.
The Department of Transport and Planning are asking motorists to avoid the superload route or to allow plenty of extra time, and to follow the direction of the traffic controllers escorting the load.
The superload and supporting vehicles will continue their journey through Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs on the following two nights. From Eumemmering to Heatherton, from 11pm Sunday, April 2 to 5am Monday, April 3, and from Heatherton to the Port of Melbourne, from 11pm Monday, April 3 to 5.30am Tuesday, April 3.
Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app.
