Councillors oppose levy

Baw Baw Shire councillors stood united to formally oppose the levy at Wednesday's council meeting.
But, what exactly did they vote to do?
Council wrote to the Allan Government to formally oppose the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund calling on the state government to repeal its decision.
Council also called for a one-year deferral due to drought impacts, consultation with locals affected by the levy and explore how best to equitably share the financial cost.
Officers also were directed to explore partnerships with neighbouring councils to investigate impacts of the levy and engage with wellbeing support services.
