Consider registering your CCTV system with police
1 min read

Police are encouraging community members and businesses to register their private CCTV systems with the Victoria Police state-wide Community CCTV database.
The database is for Victoria Police usage only. Police may contact residents if they believe their system captured footage that could help solve a crime.
Households or businesses can voluntarily register their privately owned CCTV systems with local police stations.
Acting sergeant Connor McLennan said the CCTV database could help increase the efficiency in which police investigated various crimes, and provide a better service to the public and victims for crimes including; theft from motor vehicle; theft of a motor vehicle; thefts; burglaries; assaults and criminal damages.
Police welcome all CCTV systems that cover: driveways; front yards; streets; back laneways; and, security doorbells that activate when pressed.
To register your CCTV system, contact your local police station by phone or email. Provide them with your, name and contact details, the address of your CCTV system, camera locations and the area captured and how long the footage is stored for.
