Race into Warragul Community Garden on Melbourne Cup Day to get ahead on your spring planting.
The garden near Eastern Park is holding its first plant sale event on Tuesday, November 7 from 10am to noon.
Community garden member Marg Stammers said "a few hundred" plants would be available, including heritage tomatoes, herbs and a few garden plants.
In addition, home-made preserves and seeds will be available.
Ms Stammers said the plant sale originated as a way to raise money for new compost bins and a security upgrade.
As a result, many volunteer hours have gone into preparing the plants and getting the community garden looking lush ahead of the event.
David Baylis encouraged all residents to visit the community garden, learn about the group, see what they do and head away with a plant or two.
Warragul Community Garden welcomes keen gardeners along with those who attend for the social benefits.
"We accept anyone who turns up," Ms Stammers said.
The garden is located near Eastern Park, behind Warragul Community House and accessed from the carpark off Cambridge Drv.
"A lot don't know where it is," Mr Baylis. "It's tucked away."
However, the gardens are looking green and full with a new Mediterranean garden and even a bee hive.
"A lot are planted now for summer," he said. "It's a busy time of year."
A food swamp also runs on a monthly basis at the garden.
