Burglary at scout hall

Warragul Scout Group members were left frustrated and disappointed last week following a burglary at their scout hall.
The incident occurred between 6pm on Sunday, October 5 and 6:30pm on Monday, October 6. Two petrol generators valued at an estimated $4000 were reported stolen.
Offenders damaged an emergency exit door in an attempt to gain access to the building. When unsuccessful, accessed was gained by other means.
Warragul Scout Group leader Sharn Juster said the loss of the generators would have a significant financial impact on the scouts. Without them, the scouts are unable to power the bain-maries used to keep food hot during barbecues at the Rokeby market.
"The market revenue we get on a good day can be up to $1000, it's a significant amount of fundraising for us," he said.
"If we can't run the bain-maries, we're not food safe. It means the customers we're selling food to will have a longer (wait), because we won't be able to cook and then store, we're going to have to cook on the go."
Youth unit leader Niamh Juster described the actions of offenders as "disgusting."
"There's better things to do than steal from kids," she said.
"We worked really hard to buy that stuff and so have the adults. I think it's a bit childish that they would steal from a youth group."
