Bulldogs name best

Bunyip had the chance to name the best of the Bulldog breed during last weekend's past players day, announcing its team of 2003-2022.
The club's 2012 premiership team features heavily among the selections, with 16 players from grand final day named including coach Callum Pattie and captain Brad Walker.
Among the long list of accolades in the team are Brent Heus' 100-goal season in 2013, Michael Whyte's four best and fairest awards (2009, 2013, 2016 and 2019) and Robert Hughes' 300-plus games across 20 years of footy.
Another notable inclusion is former Geelong, Sydney and GWS ruck Shane Mumford, who returned to the club for a one-off appearance last year.
From the Bulldogs' current list are hardnosed midfielder Jeb McLeod and former coach Lachlan Petch, whose steady hand at the helm kept the club going during one of their darkest periods.
The final team is as follows:
Back: Lachlan Petch, Jack Fitzpatrick, Brad Wolfe
Half back: Zac Vansittart, Daniel Hagen, Brad Walker (c)
Centre: Nathan Allen, Michael Whyte (vc), Michael Laszczyk
Half forward: Callum Pattie (coach), Robert Hughes, Nathan Lieshout
Forward: Dean Bassed, Brent Heus, Jack Blakeymanche
Followers: Shane Mumford, Ben Jostlear, Jeb McLeod
Interchange: Marc Rotunno, Andy Henwood, Josh Taylor, Matt Ross, Stewy Edwards, Mitch Davis
The club also used its past players day to raise money for premiership player Stewy Edwards as he battles cancer.
More than $10,000 was raised through memorabilia auctions and donations for one of the club's beloved sons.
