Be aware of package thefts

Packages delivered to residential front doors have recently become the target of opportunistic thieves.
Police are warning residents to be aware of thefts as local thefts rise and provided two examples in Warragul over two consecutive days.
A man was captured on CCTV taking a package from an address in Cromie Dr at noon on Monday, October 27.
The package contained women's underwear.
The man was wearing a black hoodie and covering his face.
The next day on Tuesday, October 28, a doorbell camera captured a woman rummaging through packages left at the front door of a George St address.
Police reported the incident occurred just after 8pm. However, after discovering the packages were empty and oseeing the camera, the woman promptly left the address.
Neighbourhood Watch urges people to make other arrangements for delivery if they won't be home, with more than one million packages reported stolen in Australia each year.
It said only 55 per cent of people nominate a safe place for packages to be left.
When shopping online, Neighbourhood Watch urged residents to schedule delivery for when they will be home; nominate a specific place to leave packages that cannot be seen from the street; track your package; select "click and collect" where possible; and, consider adding signature confirmation.
If residents cannot be home, tips include: arrange delivery to a workplace or redirect to a local post office; organise a trusted neighbour to keep a lookout; or, invest in a lockable parcel box.
