The autumn leaves were changing colour and residents in the Baw Baw Shire area soaked up some balmy weather last month. But winter set in on the weekend with the season's first heavy snowfalls recorded at Mt Baw Baw.
Rainfall was only about six millimetres below the average for the month in Warragul - 73.8 millimetres - and less at Nilma North where 67.6 millimetres was registered.
A large share of those totals - 32 to 34 millimetres - fell over a 48-hour period to 9am on April 17.
