Annual appeal kicks off

West Gippsland Healthcare Group kicks off it's annual equipment appeal today.
The appeal aims to raise funds for much-needed medical equipment that government funding does not cover. This year's appeal focuses on the hospital's medical, midwifery and paediatric units, the emergency department and haemodialysis unit.
WGHG interim chief executive officer Shannon Wight said the annual equipment appeal was a vital fundraiser for the health service.
"This year we hope to raise enough money to purchase five key items that will help us continue providing safe, quality care for our community," Ms Wight said.
"Some items, such as the trauma stretchers, have a fixed service life and are due to be replaced with modern stretchers that provide greater comfort for patients and safe, ease of use for our staff. In others instances, a new need has been identified.
"Our haemodialysis unit requires a patient sling hoist to safely and comfortably move patients with limited mobility.
"Every donation helps and we are grateful for contributions toward any of the items listed in this year's appeal."
With the end of the financial year approaching, community members and businesses may wish to contribute to the appeal, with all donations of $2 and over being tax deductible.
A flyer with a donation form attached is included in today's Gazette to help people make donations easily.
