A document obtained by the Opposition under Freedom of Information has indicated the State Government is looking at merging West Gippsland Healthcare Group into a Gippsland wide health service.
But, the Health Department and West Gippsland Healthcare Group have refuted claims of a merger with Latrobe Regional Hospital or threats of closure if savings cannot be made.
Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier last week claimed regional health services across the state were facing forced amalgamations, service cuts and closures as the Allan Labor government slashed millions in health funding.
