A team of junior school students from St Paul's Anglican Grammar School recently received honours after competing in the STEM division of the Tournament of Minds (TOM) Victorian State Final at Latrobe University in Bundoora.
TOM is a problem solving program for primary and secondary students that develops diverse skills through open-ended challenges across STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), language literature, social sciences and the arts disciplines.
Many weeks of preparation paid off when the team won its division in the regional final in August at Federation University in Churchill, qualifying them for the state final. The students' performance in the three hour challenge at the state final resulted in them receiving honours for their problem solving abilities.
