A monster art work project has been brought to life through a creative collaboration between students from Bona Vista Primary School and Warragul Regional College.
During term two, Bona Vista students were given the chance to let their imaginations run wild in art class, sketching and designing their very own monsters. What they didn't realise at the time was their quirky, colourful, and often fearsome creations were destined for much more than paper.
In a heart warming collaboration, the year nine ceramics class at Warragul Regional College secretly took on the challenge of bringing the primary students' drawings to life.
With the guidance of their art teachers, the high school students carefully translated each sketch into a unique ceramic sculpture, capturing every fang, scale, and googly eye with remarkable detail.
Three months later, the big reveal left Bona Vista's young artists absolutely thrilled.
"The looks on their faces when they saw their drawings turned into real 3D sculptures was priceless," Bona Vista art instructor Trish Lott said. "It was such a special moment of joy and surprise."
Each primary student received their own handcrafted monster, a permanent reminder of the magic of creativity and the power of collaboration between schools.
The finished works also will be proudly displayed later this year at the Bona Vista Primary School Art Show, giving families and the wider community a chance to see the monsters in all their glory.
The project has been celebrated as a wonderful example of how art can connect students of different ages, inspire imagination, and build community.
As one Warragul Regional College student reflected - "it was amazing to take someone's idea and turn it into something real. Seeing how excited the primary school kids were made it all worthwhile."
From sketchbook doodles to ceramic masterpieces, the monsters are proof that when young artists inspire one another, truly magical things can happen.
