Following sold-out performances at the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall and, more recently, the State Theatre in 2024, Monsieur Camembert will bring production "Cohen Noir: The Beauty, Mystery and Romance of Leonard Cohen" to the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Sunday, August 3.
Far from a traditional tribute, "Cohen Noir" reimagines Leonard Cohen's iconic works through a vivid, musically adventurous lens, blending jazz, tango, Latin, swing and more in a rich, cinematic journey through his songs and poetry.
With a powerhouse 10-piece band, a 40-piece choir and an all-star line-up of guest vocalists, including Rebecca Barnard, Rob Snarski, Nina Ferro and Canadian-born Brian Campeau, the performance draws on more than three decades of repertoire.
Each performance offers a unique artistic experience. Cohen's poetry and rare audio of the man himself is interwoven in the performance, creating a rich and immersive experience for devoted fans and newcomers alike.
Critically praised for its musical daring and emotional resonance, the show showcases Monsieur Camembert's signature fusion of virtuosity and soul.
Audiences can expect timeless classics like "Suzanne", "Bird on a Wire" and "Hallelujah", transformed with fresh arrangements and unforgettable energy.
Monsieur Camembert's "Cohen Noir" continues to evolve with every performance, cementing its place as one of the country's most original and acclaimed explorations of Leonard Cohen's enduring legacy.
Monsieur Camembert will perform "Cohen Noir" at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Sunday, August 3 at 7:30pm.
