Enjoy a glass of wine and support local young musicians on Friday, October 17 at a special young musicians open mic night hosted by Everything's Better With Wine in Warragul.
Organised by "Cool Band", a group of young musicians from Drouin Secondary College, the open mic night is an opportunity for young musicians to put themselves out there and experience performing in front of an audience.

"Cool Band" keys player Kian Medlyn said the decision to create a youth focused open mic night was born out of a lack of performance experiences for young musicians just starting out.
"Especially if you're a small group or even a solo performer, it's kind of hard to sign up for open mic nights where it kind of feels like a high stakes environment, there's big bands, big stage," Kian said.
"This event is a lot smaller, it'll be a lot less intimidating for those who don't perform often and want to get their name out there."
"Cool Band" has done a number of small performances at Everything's Better With Wine during the last year, experiences Kian said had helped band members develop their confidence.
"Having that responsibility to try and make it the best that we can definitely helped us kind of gain more confidence as young musicians," Kian said. "We're (now) trying to create something where more young musicians can get up there and play."
"We're hoping that this one goes well and then maybe it's something we can keep doing."
After announcing the event, Kian said the performance slots were filled within a week."We got a few people replying day of and then a few more people have thought about it and thought about what they want to perform and then put their hand up," he said.
"I'd say over a week of announcing it, I think we got most of our performers."
Performances will begin at around 7pm on the night. Six acts are lined up to perform, two solo performers and four groups.
"I think you can expect a unique kind of blend," Kian said. "There'll be some originals and some covers. People seem keen to do more than 20-minute sets so that's what we're going to try and give."
The young musicians open mic night will be held at Everything's Better With Wine in Warragul on Friday October 17.
