New series brings world class talent to WGAC
1 min read

A new "Lunchtime Chamber Series" organised by the West Gippsland Arts Centre in partnership with Niels Bijl will see world-class musicians come to Warragul to perform and teach in exclusive masterclasses.
Held in the WGAC Lyrebird Room, the "Lunchtime Chamber Series" is an opportunity for locals to enjoy performances by some of Australia's finest musicians, followed by an exclusive masterclass, right at home in West Gippsland.
The series will feature four performances and masterclasses across 2025 and 2026, kicking off next Wednesday August 13 with pianist Timothy Young.
Timothy Young is a much sought after recitalist, soloist and chamber musician performing regularly in Australia's major festivals. His versatility and large repertoire has seen him forge a career as a pianist that highlights the eclectic nature of the instrument itself.

Frequently praised by critics for both his sensitive musicianship and ability to draw a veritable orchestral palette of sound from the piano, Timothy has been a resident artist at the Australian National Academy of Music for 21 years.
As a concerto soloist he has performed with the Australian World Orchestra, the MSO, the MCO and playing in and directing the Australian National Academy of Music orchestra. As a regular recitalist with prominent instrumentalists and singers, his experience and repertoire are extensive.
A founding member of Ensemble Liaison, he has composed and made countless arrangements for their "Ensemble Liaison and Friends" annual series.
Timothy also is a passionate educator and is Head of Piano as resident artist at the Australian National Academy of Music, teaching and training Australia's most talented young musicians.
Also performing at WGAC as part of the "Lunchtime Chamber Series" are flutist Eliza Shephard on Wednesday November 19, trumpeters Tim Francis and Andrew Young on Wednesday March 18, 2026 and cellist Zoe Knighton on Wednesday May 27, 2026.
Timothy Young's performance will begin at 12:30pm on Wednesday August 13. The exclusive 70-minute masterclass is limited to a maximum of five students and will be held in West Gippsland Arts Centre's Lyrebird Room at 4pm the same day.
Tickets are available at sales.wgac.com.au.
Masterclasses are capped at five students per session, private classes are managed directly by the performer through TryBooking.com.
