A new exhibition from local calligraphy artist Anita George will open at the Red Tree Gallery in Jindivick this Sunday.
Titled "Travels and Letters", the exhibition is a reflection of Anita's travels and the local script she's discovered along the way.
"Travel informs this exhibition where lettering is the main focus," Anita said. "Russia, Asia, Morocco or India all have languages we may not understand but have written words that intrigue a calligrapher."
Returning from overseas travels Anita's memories are full of the local scripts. The unusual aesthetics of the letters and overall form have been added into her calligraphic book.
The local scripts, although unfamiliar to Anita are appreciated for the beauty and become part of the creative works, adapting the script to known letters she uses in her own unique way.
"Some trips resonate long after returning home and a scattering of impressions and letters will become a painting," she said.
The "Travels and Letters" exhibition will officially open at the Red Tree Gallery this Sunday September 8 at 2pm.
The exhibition will show for most of September.
