Renowned Celtic musician Rennie Pearson will bring his show of traditional tunes, songs and storytelling from Ireland, Scotland and Maritime Canada to the Tonimbuk Hall on Saturday, May 17 at 7:30pm.
Known for his engaging stage presence and storytelling, Rennie will create a show that's both intimate and exhilarating.
With the wooden flute, Irish whistles, guitar, bodhrán, fiddle and his own voice, Rennie balances high-energy jigs and reels with heart-stirring slow airs.
Each performance is a musical journey that offers a chance to connect with Celtic culture through music that lifts the spirit and stirs the soul.
A Wellington native, Rennie was immersed in Celtic music from a young age, inspired by his parents' music collection. He began playing the flute at age seven, learning by ear from Galway-born musician Pat Higgins.
Over the years, he expanded his expertise to include various Celtic traditions and instruments.
With a strong reputation in the traditional music scene across Australia and New Zealand, Rennie has performed at numerous festivals and music schools worldwide.
Some of Rennie's career highlights include collaborations with the New Zealand Irish ambassador Peter Ryan and tours with prominent Irish dance troupes.
Rennie Pearson's performance will take place at the Tonimbuk Hall at 7:30pm on Saturday, May 17.
