Middle school students at Chairo Christian School in Drouin are set to prove that "even if you're little, you can do a lot" when they perform "Matilda the Musical Jr" at The Balfour Theatre on August 29 and 30.
After eight months of dedicated after-school rehearsals, the students are excited to present Roald Dahl's classic story on the school's big stage.
Featuring a talented cast of more than 60 students from years five to eight, the one-act abridged version of the Broadway hit musical promises to captivate audiences of all ages.
"I can't speak more highly of the cast and the incredible effort they've put in," director Tessa Martin said. "Mataya Scott as "Matilda" will have you spellbound!"
"Jada Ball as "Miss Trunchbull" is not to be missed," producer Ryan Wytkamp said.
"This is one of the best ensembles we've had in recent years, despite their youth," musical director Jason Ward added.
With beloved songs like "Naughty", "When I Grow Up" and "The Smell of Rebellion", audiences are in for an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
"Matilda Jr" follows Chairo's successful senior school production of "Mary Poppins" last year and the middle school production of "Alice in Wonderland" in 2023.
The show will open on Friday August 29 at 7pm, followed by a 1pm matinee performance and a 7pm evening performance on Saturday August 30.
