Annual Mother’s Day Classic a success
1 min read

Drouin's annual Mother's Day Classic returned on Sunday for another year of fundraising fun.
The Mothers Day Classic, created by Women in Super, is a fun run, or walk, that takes place across Australia every Mother's Day. Proceeds go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Despite the cold Sunday morning, hundreds of locals congregated at the Drouin Golf Club and Country Club at 9am ready to get started.

It was the eighth year Drouin Secondary College's Year 12 VCAL students have run the event, and they approached it with enthusiasm.
More than 260 people pre-registered for the run and even more signed up in person on the day.

As part of their fundraising efforts, the students hosted in-school events for DSC students and staff before the Mothers Day Classic, and on the day they organised a barbeque and held a raffle.
In addition to the great food being served by students, The Place to Be coffee van set up shop so participants could enjoy a hot beverage while braving the cold.

DSC teacher Kevin Thorpe said it was good to see the students get to run an event for the community.
"The community want to see the event run, we've got lots of regulars that come back year after year who have a real connection to it," he said.
"It's just good to see the students have a connection with the community."
More than $12,000 was raised in total.
